The Touring Club Switzerland was founded more than 125 years ago, in 1896 by a group of passionate cyclists with the aim of developing bicycle tourism.
A few years later, with the rapid progress of individual motorization, the club also opens up to motorists. The enormous increase in the number of motor vehicles after the Second World War and the associated increase in the number of breakdowns lead the TCS to expand its breakdown service. Thus, over the years, the TCS roadside assistance service, now commonly known as TCS Patrol, is born. At the request of its members who like to travel, TCS establishes a foreign assistance service and offers an exclusive home recovery service for the first time. The ETI protection letter is born. This is followed by the introduction of TCS car insurance, TCS legal protection insurance, driving courses and worldwide medical transport.
