At the herb village Hergiswil everything revolves around scenting, experiencing and enjoying. Whether on one of the themed trails or on a guided hike, here you can learn more about the mountain herbs that are later processed into Ricola herb candies or in milk to make herb cheese.

Hiking tip

The round hike from Luthern Bad to the Napf and back, attracts with a unique panoramic view. In the restaurant of the Berghotel Napf you can enjoy a cool drink before returning via another route. At the end of the hike, a short stop at the healing spring Badbrünnli is worthwhile.

The Ahorn is located 1136 m. above sea level and is considered an insider tip among the regional viewing points. The magnificent view over the Bernese and Central Swiss Alps and the Mittelland is especially recommended at dawn and dusk, when the landscape is illuminated by the low sun.

At the northern edge of the valley is the Lukmanier Pass, a pass road with picturesque landscapes along the Brenno River: the perfect place for a picnic. Get some cheese from the different alps in the valley beforehand. Each alp produces slightly different cheese and you will discover a variety of tastes as a result.

Hiking tip

The hut Adula UTOE is located at the foot of the Rheinwaldhorn glacier and offers a unique experience. From here you can continue hiking to the Quarnei hut through a stunning rocky landscape and then walk back to the valley floor. Caution: Demanding hike, not suitable for small children, dogs and high heels.

Insider tip

The 225-meter high dam Luzzone can be climbed and is known to be the highest artificial climbing wall in the world with more than 600 holds. If you are looking for a low adrenaline experience, you can hike along the dam to the Michela mountain hut and then across the Greina plateau to the Scaletta mountain hut.

Often one simply drives past this wonderful region full of natural beauty on the motorway from Sarnen in the direction of the Brünig Pass. Why not plan a stop? Sightseeing

The waterfall in Jaun is known as a place of power. The special thing about it: the water travels underground for 11 days beforehand and originally comes from Vanil Noir, 15 kilometers away. The place is also illuminated in the evening and thus offers a romantic spot, if you want to get a little wet splash.

Hiking tip

Particularly recommended in the region around Jaun is the circular hike around the Gastlosen. The striking limestone cliffs rise up to 300 meters and provide a spectacular atmosphere. Start and end point is the mountain station from the local chairlift. There are several places to stop for refreshments along the route.

Insider tip

Jaun and especially the Gastlosen are also particularly well known among climbers. With over 800 routes in difficulty levels from 3a to 9c, there is everything here that the climber's heart desires. But also for mountain bikers the area is still an insider tip. Various trails invite you to be discovered.

Hike through the Tschinglen Gorge to Tschinglenalp with a cozy mountain inn. Around the alp Tschinglen, a pristine fauna and flora opens up, and that in the middle of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona.

From one of the Nomady Camps in Linthal you can easily take the funicular up to car-free Braunwald. Enjoy a carriage ride to Nussbüel, where you can taste delicious rösti and then take a leisurely stroll back.

The "Sentier des Monts" learning trail connects the Mont Soleil solar power plant with the Mont-Crosin wind power plant and offers information about renewable energy, flora and fauna, climate change, geology and weather. Those who do not want to walk can also rent a bike, Segway or scooter at the beginning of the trail.

Hiking tip

The path through the Areuse Gorge is secretly called the most beautiful gorge hike in Switzerland. The path starts in Noiraigue in the Val de Travers and leads over steps and bridges down to Boudry. In between you will get deep insights into the natural spectacle of the imposing gorge.

A highlight for young and old: At the Forest Jump rope park, every person will find the right challenge. Several climbing courses, an archery range, a slackline and several barbecue areas await you. Right next to it is also a ranch with North American prairie bison.
