On foot, 65 kilometers from the Swiss border deep into the Black Forest. This is the 4-day-long trekking tour Albsteig Schwarzwald from Albbruck to Feldberg. Follow the scenic trail along rivers, gorges and through idyllic valleys, spend the nights at tent camps and experience nature to the fullest.
The Albsteig Schwarzwald leads through the spectacular Alb Gorge and the wild and romantic Alb Valley, before heading up towards Feldberg, where the river Alb has its source, which the path mostly followed upstream until then. Hikers often follow the shoreline of the Alb, but the trail also leads up to the mountain ranges on both sides of the river, where a variety of landscapes and natural phenomena can be discovered. The theme of water is always present and lends the hike a special dynamic.
The GPS tracks can be found on Komoot.
On the first day on the Albsteig Schwarzwald you will walk along deep gorges, bubbling streams, waterfalls and various viewpoints which are linked by narrow paths, shady forest tracks and sunny country lanes. The track starts in Albbruck and is about 14 km long.
The best camp to spend the night is the One-Night-Camp Höllbach. Alternatively, you can also walk another 4.5 km to Wilfingen where you can find two additional camps.
Alternative option: If you arrive by train in the afternoon, you can also only hike the first 5 km of the path and take a one kilometer long detour to spend the first night at "Hinderer Wirts - Camping" in Buch.
The second day leads you over shady forest paths and natural paths through the Albtal, past the impressive Devil's Kitchen. The Dachsberg offers fantastic views all the way to the Alps. After approximately 15 km, you reach your camp "Zeltplatz am Kreuzbühl" Fernblick close to Wittenschwand.
Alternatively, you can hike another kilometer into Wittenschwand where you can find the camp "Zelten im Gemüsegarten".
The third day leads over narrow, partly pre-Alpine paths with stony slopes. Over the route you will have wonderful views of the Albstausee and the Windberg gorge. After an approximately 17.5 km long hike, you arrive in St. Blasien and at your camp "#hikersparadies in St.Blasien".
On the last day of the Albsteig Schwarzwald you hike all the way to Feldberg, about 20 km from St- Blasien. The hightlights of the tour are two waterfalls, the Klusen moraine, the climb to the Feldberg Pass and the landscape and vegetation of the Menzenschwander Valley.
Once arriving in Feldberg, public transport can be used to head home or back to your car in Albbruck.
