For hiking enthusiasts, there are countless beautiful destinations to explore: from natural pools in the valley and mountains, to wild rivers, and even mountain lakes where you can spend the night in a bivouac. You can also embark on a hut-to-hut tour, staying overnight in various charming mountain huts (including, for example, Villa Misterella, which I also offer as a camp here).

It's often beautifully and romantically said, "in harmony with nature"... Yet few realize that this not only means harmony but is also closely linked with effort, inconveniences, and pushing one's own limits. Those who dare to face these challenges and embrace a "being with oneself in nature" will surely return from this break feeling enriched and fulfilled.

Villa Minica is nestled in a small clearing (860 m above sea level) within a chestnut forest, slightly off the hiking trail, on the northern part of Lake Como. It is only accessible on foot (in approx. 30 min.). A neighboring hut is occasionally used for a few nights... but most of the time, you'll likely be alone up there with the forest's inhabitants.

Civilization is about a 20-minute walk away. Another 3.5 km, which can also be driven by car on an unpaved road, lead to the nearest mountain village.

Villa Minica has been lovingly prepared by us with great care and attention:

For the floors and furniture, we used chestnut wood from the surrounding forest, along with existing planks and split wood.

No electricity… but candles instead
No fitted kitchen… but cooking over an open fire instead
No flush toilet… but the forest instead (and soon a dry toilet)
No bathroom… but a trough with fresh mountain water in front of the hut instead
No frills… but plenty of passion

A single room with an open fireplace, a handmade double bed with 2 very comfortable folding mattresses, handmade table and benches, an Italian Moka pot for coffee, pots, pans, dishes… we also like to keep basic supplies like salt, sugar, dish soap, vinegar, and oil stocked for you.

Cooling options are available in the stable under the house or in the stream by the water trough.

Villa Machita cannot be heated and is therefore preferably used during the warm summer months.

A cozy trattoria (which also has parking) is located downhill, about a 15 to 20-minute walk away. In the next village (approx. 3.5 km), reachable by car, you'll find a small grocery store for your essentials. Just another 8 km brings you down to Lake Como, offering numerous supermarkets, bakeries, cafes, and more...

As mentioned, Villa Machita is nestled in a small clearing amidst an ancient chestnut forest. In front of the cottage, water gently splashes in the fountain trough. The neighbor is rarely on site, so you'll likely spend most of your time alone with the enchanting inhabitants of the forest.
