The old milking parlor is a relic from the GDR era, accessible via a traditional paved track. It is perched on a hillside overlooking the village of Friedebach. You can simply park on the paved area in front of the hall, or find your own private corner on the 70,000 m² grounds, whether by the edge of the forest or in the meadow. It’s the perfect spot for off-grid camping. If the weather turns and there is space available inside the milking parlor, you are more than welcome to use it.

BBQs, campfires, music… it’s all fine here. 

Friedebach is perfectly situated for day trips, whether you’re heading to Jena, the 'Thuringian Sea' reservoirs, or the famous Rennsteig hiking trail. Alternatively, you can set off on foot directly into the Uhlstädter Heide. There, you’ll find an amazing nature project: a 577-hectare forest-pasture landscape that is currently home to 17 Heck cattle (modern-day aurochs).

It's perfect for off-grid overnight stays. If the weather is bad and there's a free spot inside the milking parlor, you are welcome to use it.

Friedebach is perfectly located for day trips, whether to Jena, the 'Thuringian Sea' reservoirs, or the Rennsteig hiking trail. Or you can simply start walking right from here into the Uhlstädter Heide, home to an amazing nature project: a forest-pasture project where 17 cattle (Aurochs) currently live on 577 hectares.
