Il Granello - Wild Cherry Bell Tent

Italy-40065 Pianoro
Suspended in time, in a pre-industrial kairos, nestled among lovingly cultivated organic fields and surrounding woodlands, we look forward to offering you a relaxing getaway in total harmony with nature. A true escape from time at the edge of the forest in the Ciliegio Tent, featuring a double bed, sofa and cushions, a wooden deck with table and chairs, a private bathroom with sink, shower, and hot water, a sunbathing area, hammocks, and... 650 square meters of woods and meadows reserved exclusively for you, where from May to late June you can also savor the sweet fruits of wild cherry and sloe trees. LUNCH and BREAKFAST IN THE TENT, PICNIC BASKETS, or an aperitif on our suspended net "RELAX AMONG THE FRONDS" are available upon request. All around the fields, you can take short or long walks along the trails, hike up to Monte Rosso, explore the "cave", unwind at the "pulpit in the woods", or disconnect even further by heading up to the panoramic viewpoint high above the fields—a true natural sanctuary in the Mediterranean scrub, with south-facing limestone steps overlooking the slopes of the Pliocene foothills, right along the historic WWII Gothic Line, today an oasis of peace and serenity.

In our small agriturismo, we offer simple yet beautifully presented cuisine centered around high-quality, 100% organic ingredients. It is based on raw produce grown directly by us or by certified organic farms in the Bolognese hills. The menu changes with the seasons, creatively incorporating wild herbs and edible flowers while staying true to Italy's rich culinary traditions. We also have plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans and pay special attention to guests with gluten or lactose allergies. As a staple, we always feature homemade tortelloni and balanzoni made with fresh Type 1 semi-wholemeal flour and sheep's milk ricotta (with mortadella added to the balanzoni). You will also find our homemade tagliatelle. For starters, we serve slices of our homemade Romagna-style piadina—also made with fresh Type 1 flour and available in a vegan version—accompanied by a flavorful sauce and fresh vegetables for pinzimonio. For the second course, we always offer our generous tasting platter filled with delicacies: bites of cured meats and cold cuts, sheep and goat cheeses, vegetable dips, seasonal vegetables, small salads, and tastings of hummus or cecina. To round off your meal, we offer organic craft beers from the Samoggia Valley and beyond, as well as a curated selection of local and national organic wines.

Although we are quite close to the city, the surrounding nature is our greatest surprise and attraction. In the Pliocene Spur Nature Reserve (Contrafforte Pliocenico), you can discover a rich variety of flora and fauna in every season. Stretching from east to west, the ridge features an unexpected Mediterranean-style flora on its southern slopes, while the northern side boasts a distinctly alpine character. All around the property, you'll find plenty of short and long trails perfect for strolling and soaking up the scenery. Explore the forest path circling the fields with a visit to the cave, take in the views from the cliffside vantage point, discover the "pulpit" hidden in the woods, hike up to the peak of Monte Rosso, or visit the Sanctuary of Monte delle Formiche, along with the various well-marked routes of the "Path of Friends" (Sentiero degli Amici). There are also well-marked CAI hiking trails that make for wonderful multi-hour excursions. We also offer e-bike rentals so you can easily explore many of these paths. Nearby, you can try natural horsemanship at the Red Rose Ranch (10 minutes away), go caving in the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi (25 minutes), or spend a delightful day at Lake Bilancino or the fairy-tale castle Rocchetta Mattei (both 1 hour away). You can also marvel at the night sky at the Loiano Astronomical Observatory and Planetarium (20 minutes). To dive into local history, visit the National Etruscan Museum and the archaeological ruins of Kainua in Marzabotto (40 minutes) or the Monte Sole Historical Park (55 minutes). If you have extra time, a day trip to Florence (an hour and a half) is definitely not to be missed. For food lovers, Bologna (a 40-minute drive) is a true culinary paradise: join guided food tours, wander vibrant markets, and discover traditional shops and trattorias showcasing local delicacies. Between meals, stroll through the historic porticoed streets, admire the gothic Basilica of San Petronio, climb the iconic Torre degli Asinelli, and visit the Archaeological Museum to immerse yourself in the city's rich history.
