Become a host
Who are our hosts
Hosts share our vision of a nature-based tourism of simple things and small places, off the beaten track. Mostly they are private persons, often farmers. But also tourism enterprises, associations or communities can create an offer.

What is a camp
Whether at the edge of the forest, on a meadow or directly next to a river, it is a beautiful spot of earth, suitable for tents, buses, mobile homes or as a location for a special accommodation. The focus is on the closeness to nature. We distinguish between camping and accommodation. So you can also find cabins, tipies, sleeping barrels or yurts.

Questions and answers
Anyone, whether you are a private person, run an agricultural or tourism business, represent an association or act on behalf of a municipality. As long as you fulfill your duties as a host, one camp is enough to be part of it.
A Nomady camp is a place in nature. Suitable for tents, buses, campers and motorhomes. But also cabins, teepees, yurts or special accommodations in nature find a place with us. The places and accommodations have something in common: their closeness to nature and their simplicity. Nomady stands for authenticity and tranquility, that is our luxury.
None. However, a toilet near the camp greatly enhances the place and is often requested by campers. They appreciate it and are willing to pay more for such places. Large investments are not necessary.
Nothing! The creation of the offer is free. Nomady charges a service fee of currently 10-15% when you receive a booking. You can also delete your offer and your contact details at any time. We do not have any contract terms or cancellation periods.
The income varies greatly depending on the listing. You can build up a small side income of CHF/€ 2,000 per year or earn over CHF/€ 20,000 per year with several listings. The income from your guests will be transferred to your settlement account after the completed stay.
We take care of the booking and make the administrative work easier for you. In addition, we market the offers on various channels throughout Europe. In addition, a personal contact is available to you. We seek closeness to our hosts and are transparent and fair.
The booking and payment is done via our platform by credit card. You will receive the amount after the guests have stayed overnight. You can block time slots when you do not want to receive guests. You can also refuse booking requests.
We do our best to make sure that all parties are happy and the experience is unforgettable. The rating function is very helpful in providing a transparent picture. We trust in a respectful and truthful interaction according to our Nomady pact. We all make this pact together. In principle, it is about mutual respect for people and nature. This has worked well so far.
"We like to share our meadow with people who value nature."

FAQ
With us, hosts share their most beautiful nature sites and accommodations with campers. We connect people and stand up for sustainable and local tourism from which everyone benefits.
Our goal is to bring hosts and campers together as easily as possible. To achieve this, we are constantly striving to improve the quality and functionality of our platform. We also do marketing, media work, build partnerships and of course we are your point of contact for problems and questions. We also take care of the entire booking and payment process.
Nomady allows you as a private person or as a company to rent out your offer. Clubs, cooperatives or municipalities are welcome as well.
At Nomady we distinguish between two categories of camps: "campings" and "accommodations". In the category "campings" you can find idyllic places in nature for a tent, van or camper. In the "accommodation" category, we offer huts, glamping and shelters, such as alpine huts, tiny houses, converted trailers or yurts. If you have an idyllic nature place or a beautiful hut, you can create a profile for free and create as many offers as you like.
Nomady stands for camping in nature, away from the big crowds. Therefore, a Nomady camp or accommodation should ideally be located in a beautiful, natural environment and offer space for recreation. This could include a great view, an idyllic location or one that is close to waters (stream, river or lake). Further this means that around the camp activities such as hiking, wildlife watching, biking, fishing, mushroom picking, etc. should be possible. Not all criteria can always be met, and that's fine. After all, we are interested in a wide range of sleeping opportunities in nature.
A typical Nomady site has a fireplace, a table and bench for outdoor dining, and firewood, if possible. A toilet and drinking water right next to the camp or within walking distance are also useful.
We leave the level of equipment to the host. However, it is important that the camper knows what to expect.
We try to keep your effort as a host as little as possible: You manage your bookings and your calendar, are the contact person for your guests and maintain your camp on site and online. Ideally, you should check your bookings daily. You decide how intensive and elaborate your guest care is. Over time, you'll get more and more who needs how much attention and what is valued by your guests.
As a host, you also become part of our community. By doing so, you commit yourself to our Nomady Pact. Its intention is to be respectful and take care of nature and people.
We check all camps before they are available for booking. Together we go through the content, such as texts and images. We strive to keep the quality of the camps high and therefore reserve the right to reject a camp in case of poor quality. In other cases we ask for an improvement or we will not allow publication at all. We’ll be glad to help you.
Creating a Nomady offer is free of charge. So it costs you nothing! Nomady only earns money when the offer is booked. Depending on the amount of the booking, between 10% and 15% service fees are charged. For bookings up to 100 francs it is 15%. Thereafter, the fee rate decreases linearly and reaches 10% for amounts of 300 francs.
Booking amount/service fee CHF 100.00 = 15% CHF 200.00 = 12.5% CHF 300.00 = 10%
With the service fee of 10-15% all costs are covered. Included are the credit card fees of 2-4%. If there are visitor's taxes, you have to deduct them from the turnover. You can find more about the tourist taxes below.
That depends on what your site or your accommodation already has to offer. So far, our experience has shown that a few investments, such as a fireplace, a table with a bench or a compost toilet are worth the investment. It will increase the attractivity of your camp as well as the campers' willingness to pay more. We’ll be glad to help you.
We recommend you to signpost the way to the camp and the camp on site. Your guest will feel welcome and will have a good first impression. As a host, we offer you high-quality metal signs (for now only in German). You can get the signs from us at cost price. Here you can find more information.
Among other benefits, as a host you can create a side income. The income varies depending on the camp. You can earn from CHF 2'000 with one camp up to over CHF 20'000 per year with multiple camps. The earnings from your guests will be transferred to your settlement account after the completed stay.
You define the price yourself. You enter it manually while creating your camp and you can adjust it at any time. You have the option of pricing different age groups individually, assigning a price to additional services and charging tourist tax if necessary. All of this is illustrated in an example when you create your offer under "Prices".
We recommend taking a look at the prices of other camps to compare the prices. That way you get a first tendency. After setting a price, keep observing the booking behavior. Let the market play and support you in your decision making. The demand shows you whether the price is too high or too low. You can always adjust the price for future bookings. When checking your camp, we will also take a look at the price and give you advice.
Small investments in equipment and good pictures will increase the attractivity of your camp as well as the campers' willingness to pay more. Like this you can charge a little higher prices.
So to conclude, it is recommended to secure the first positive bookings at the beginning with a very attractive price. As described, the price can be adjusted at any time with just a few clicks.
Every camp at Nomady has a base price. This helps the camper to compare the prices between the camps. The basic price consists of the price per night per seat and an adult price.
How much your tourist tax is and whether you have to pay it at all is regulated by your municipality. Not every municipality levies such taxes to promote tourism. They are mainly found in tourist areas.
Please check with your municipality or local tourism organization. Tourist taxes are part of your income. So please include them in your base price. You are in the reporting obligation yourself.
Yes, if your camp is listed under the category "accommodation". You have the option to set a one-time cleaning fee.
Yes, under "Facilities" you can choose from various billing methods to charge the additional electricity costs.
Yes, under "Equipment" you can choose from various forms of billing for the firewood you provide.
We take care of the complete payment process.
The camper deposits his credit card details when booking on Nomady. Currently we only provide payments with credit cards. The card will be charged only when the booking is final.
Approximately 7 days after the guest's stay, the amount, minus the Nomady fees, will be transferred to your account.
With each booking Nomady charges the host and the camper a commission of 15% each. With this service fee you help us to survive as a company and to continue to connect you as a host with the camping community. We invest the fees mainly in the following areas:
Community Support: Your concerns are our concerns. We want to support you when needed. We offer the same service to the camper. At the same time, we keep personal support high. You can contact us at any time!
Marketing: We know how important it is for you as a host to get enough bookings. With high investments in marketing we support you in reaching your goals. Among other things, we maintain our social media channels, produce content for our blog or book advertising space.
Product development: to keep our platform running smoothly, we have developers, designers and product managers working in the background. We continue to develop the website, bring new features and fix problems. The usability of the website is largely responsible for the success of our platform and your camp.
Cooperation: As always in life, you are stronger together. With this in mind, we use our resources for target-oriented cooperation with a wide range of partners from the industry. This will attract both new travelers and new hosts.
Nomady works with the payment provider Stripe. For security reasons, Stripe needs to verify your identity for payment transactions. Every host or camper has to go through the identification process once. This data will then be saved.
Nomady does not offer its own insurance today. All insurance is therefore the sole responsibility of the users. Nomady recommends that all users (hosts and campers) provide comprehensive insurance coverage. We are working on a suitable Nomady insurance solution. As soon as we are ready, we will communicate this.
The legal situation in Europe regarding camping on private land differs from country to country, from region to region and sometimes from municipality to municipality.
As a host, you are always responsible for meeting the legal requirements of your municipality. Camping on private land is still at the beginning. Therefore, it can happen that you don’t find a clear regulation in your country, in your region or in your municipality.
In practice, we often find that the municipality has a positive attitude towards Nomady. Especially if no structural measures are necessary and you take care of peace and order, in most cases there are no additional obstacles. If you have any further questions, we’ll be glad to help.
Yes, of course. Give yourself breaks and lock the calendar to do so. Under "My camps" and under the respective camp, you can click on "Manage availability". By clicking on a date, it will turn red which means "locked and not available for booking". By clicking on the same date again, it will turn white and will be open for bookings again. Don't forget to save your changes by clicking on the button at the bottom of the page.
The camper books your camp on nomady.camp or in the app. Depending on the booking option, he can book directly or only after your confirmation. Nomady distinguishes between "booking request" and "direct booking". We will tell you more about these booking options further down.
To keep your effort as small as possible and to protect your privacy, the camper can not contact you before booking.
After making a “booking request” the camper will be able to send you a message. Additional to the booking confirmation he receives access to further private information. Such as exact location, your phone number and information on how to get there, hand over the keys or arrival time.
"Booking request" means that the camper has to ask for your permission first to proceed in the booking process. As a host, you can then decide whether to accept or decline the booking. It is your right to reject booking requests. Write to the camper why you rejected his request.
Make sure if possible, that there is only a short time between request and confirmation or rejection. This is because campers may make multiple requests to different hosts and generally prefer to have some security regarding the booking. You only have 48 hours to respond to the request.
With "direct booking" a camper can book immediately, provided that the desired date is available. Your confirmation is not necessary or possible. The booking is definite. A rejection is only possible in the form of a cancellation.
Because it allows them to book their adventure very spontaneously, this booking option enjoys great popularity among campers. For you as a host, however, this means that guests arrive at very short notice and your camp should be ready.
The more complete your description of your camp is, the less questions you will receive as a host. We recommend collecting repetitive questions and to answer them in the description or in your private information, which will only be communicated after the successful booking.
Once a booking request or a direct booking has been made, you can communicate with the camper in the corresponding booking. All your bookings are listed under “bookings” in the menu. Within the booking details, the campers will find your cell phone number. However, we recommend communicating on the platform as much as possible.
Currently, all notifications are automatically sent to your email address. We will soon integrate a feature that will allow you to control the notification settings more precisely. Have a little more patience.
In the menu under "Bookings", you will find all upcoming and past bookings. A separate conversation exists for each booking. To ensure a better overview you can filter and sort the bookings by actuality and status.
Unfortunately, a calendar with an overview does not exist yet. We will constantly expand and improve the possibilities for managing bookings.
When creating or editing your camp, you’ll find under "Rules" how the arrival of your guests should take place.. You can choose between the two options: "With welcome" or "Self Check-in":
With "With welcome" a handover of the camp takes place by the host. With this option you should define or ask for an arrival time with your campers after booking. Either you write the preferred arrival time directly in the private information for the camper, under "Location|Contact", or you ask the camper for his preferences.
With "Self Check-in" there is not necessarily a personal welcome. You allow your guest to drive directly to the camp. With this option it’s important that your guest knows exactly where to camp and where to find everything. Make this clear by describing it in the private infos and with the signage on site.
There are six cancellation options
Superflex: The camper can cancel up to the check-in time on the date of arrival and will be refunded the full booking amount minus the Nomady fee. The check-in time on the date of arrival is decisive for the calculation of the deadline.
Flex: The camper can cancel 24 hours prior to arrival and will be refunded the full booking amount minus the Nomady fee. For the calculation of the deadline, the check-in time on the date of arrival is decisive (minus 24 hours).
Easy: The camper can cancel up to 3 days before arrival and will be refunded the full booking amount minus the Nomady fee. For the calculation of the deadline, the check-in time on the date of arrival is decisive (minus three calendar days).
Medium: The camper may cancel up to 10 days prior to arrival and will be refunded the full booking amount minus the Nomady fee. For the calculation of the deadline, the check-in time on the date of arrival is decisive (minus ten calendar days).
Strict: The camper has the option of canceling up to 30 days before arrival and will receive a full refund of the booking amount minus the service fee. For the calculation of the deadline, the check-in time on the date of arrival is decisive (minus thirty calendar days).
None: The camper has no possibility to cancel. He owes the entire booking amount including the total Nomady fee, even if he does not use the camp in the booked period. A refund is not possible.
In this case you will receive a message in the "Bookings" section. The date will be unlocked automatically again so that other campers can book. Your choice of cancellation conditions decides under which conditions the camper can cancel.
This function does not exist yet. Please contact our customer service in such a case.
By simply blocking the dates in the calendar your camp cannot be booked. We do not recommend closing the camp (by clicking on the three dots next to the respective camp under "your camps"). If you close your camp completely, you prevent bookings for the coming spring and summer.
At Nomady, both campers and hosts can make a review. Good ratings and reviews help you to improve your marketing. Likewise, you can use the review about campers to get an idea about your potential guest. Your rating helps campers as well as future hosts.
Submitting a review is voluntary and does not happen automatically.
It works as follows: After the stay, both parties are asked to write a review. In the first week after the stay, you will only be able to see the review of the other party if you also write one. After a week, the review becomes visible even if only one party has written one.
Reviews are very helpful to give a transparent picture of the camper, host and guest. We trust to be respectful and truthful according to our Nomady Pact.
For the sake of transparency, neither guest nor hosts can change or delete their reviews. However, if a review is false or offensive, please contact us.
We're sorry that you had a bad experience. In order to keep the reviews truthful and transparent, both positive and negative feedback is valid. Please describe your experience constructively, factually, truthfully and in a respectful tone. Please talk to the camper and describe what you did not like. Please contact us if a public review is not suitable.
In the header area or in the menu on our website you will find "+become a host" in the upper right corner. Here you will be guided step by step through the camp creation process. It takes about 30 minutes. Don't worry, it's very simple and self-explanatory. In addition, your listing will not go online immediately, but will be viewed by us first. At this point, only you and we can see the listing. So you can try things and get your head around the functionalities. Your data will be saved on every page (as long as you click on "save" at the bottom of the page). So if you want to finish another day, that's no problem.
The creation of the listing is free. You can close your listing and delete your contact data at any time. We do not have any contract terms or cancellation periods.
Do you need support in creating your listing? We’ll be glad to help you.
Yes, you can make changes at any time under "My listings" at "Edit camp". We even ask you to keep your listing always up to date. The quality and accuracy of the listings is very important to us.
We leave that up to you. We recommend starting with one or two listings and to grow slowly. You can offer “campings” as well as “accommodations”.
If your nature site offers enough space for several groups of guests, you can enter the number of seats accordingly. Your nature site can then be booked multiple times. However, the seats must be practically identical and have the same equipment. Otherwise we ask you to create two listings with different names. Please also note that the maximum number of persons, which you can also define, refers to a "seat". So the number (max. number of persons) is always a multiplier with the number of seats.
With the name of your listing you want to distinguish yourself from other offers. It should be unique, attractive, short and easy to remember. For example, integrate the name of the place, river or mountain close by. Is there anything special that you can see or experience from there? How was the place called by your ancestors? Be creative! And remember, keep it short, brevity is the source of wit!
The description of your offer is the heart of your offer. It should make it clear to the guest what to expect.
What is special about your spot? What are the surroundings like? What can you see from the spot?
How are the distances to the infrastructure? Please do not include e-mail addresses, phone numbers and websites in the description.
You can go into even more detail under "Facilities". So make sure that the description primarily whets your appetite for more.
With more and more listings on the platform, the first impression is becoming increasingly important. Good pictures help to present and market your listing better.
Pay attention to good lighting conditions and use a good camera. A cell phone camera with good resolution is also possible. Give the campers an overview. Make clear where a tent, bus or camper can be put and the question about the surroundings, landscape and equipment you should also be able to answer. Photograph the place from different perspectives.
Take pictures from a distance, capture the immediate surroundings. Take pictures of the fireplace, table and bench, toilet. Start your photo gallery with a meaningful and attractive cover photo.
Tip: Ask your first guests if you can take some pictures of a "real" camping situation.
Here you will find a checklist and some additional tips for the perfect camp pictures.
You camp with your eyes first (PDF)
Tip: Image descriptions help the guest to follow your usual eye and get a good overview.
Our campers love to make their own campfire. This possibility is often denied to them on normal campsites. Unfortunately, entire regions are increasingly having to issue fire bans due to periods of drought. In such a case, we ask you to make your guests aware of this. As responsible campers they will understand.
Many campers are self-sufficient. The option to use electricity, whether for small appliances or the van, is still very popular. You can decide here what you want to offer and at what price.
It’s your decision. If you are unsure, we recommend in the first step to include the firewood in the rental price. The experience will show you how much wood is actually used.
No, drinking water or running water is not mandatory, but much appreciated. A water source can be a well, a tap at the barn or a stream with drinkable water.
Please describe where the nearest source is or where else to get fresh water if direct water access doesn’t exist. Some hosts offer a small water canister to borrow in this case.
Most of the time, campers will need to wash their dishes at some point during their stay. It is practical and appreciated if there is a tub or some place else to do so.
As a host, you decide whether you or the campers dispose of the waste. In our Nomady pact we clearly state that campers leave your site as they found it. Our experience has shown that a trash bag which can be provided and dropped off at the end of the stay is highly appreciated.
A toilet close to the camp increases the value of the place a lot and is often desired by the camper. They appreciate it and are willing to pay more for such campsites.
The toilet can also be located in the farm or your house. A walking distance of, say, 200m is perfectly fine. Our experience shows that if the site is idyllic, people are very willing to accept a walk to go to the toilet.
If a toilet is not yet available and the distance is too far, we recommend building or buying a composting toilet. There are inexpensive solutions. We’ll be glad to help you.
Being able to freshen up for the next adventure is a clear upgrade and is a good reason for many campers to pay a little more. Whether you want to offer an outdoor shower or access to a regular shower, you are welcome to include this in the price.
We recommend you to signpost the way to the camp and the camp on site. Your guest will feel welcome and have a good first impression. We offer you high quality signs made of metal (for now only in German). You can get them at cost price. More information here.
Just give the nearest address. In such a case, the description of how to get there, which you enter under "Location | Contact", is even more important. The map function, where you can set pins, also helps if no exact address of the place exists. Important: Your guest will receive all this information only after the confirmed booking.
All Nomady users, hosts and campers, are committed to the Nomady Pact. It is about a basic attitude, which says that one behaves respectfully towards other people as well as towards nature. Details are not regulated. You can set up your own camping rules under "Rules". If they are particularly important to you, you can send them before the booking or mention them at the latest in the booking details.
When you create your camp, you can fill in the following information under "Location | Contact":
- The exact address of the camp
- Your phone number
- Further information like directions, registration, key handover, additional phone numbers etc.
Use the "map pins" to define where exactly the camp, WC, fireplace, water access are located. The campers will receive this info only after the confirmed booking.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this. But these points will help you:
- Carefully maintain your listing
- Keep your listing and availability calendar up to date
- Fast and friendly response to booking requests or messages
- Coherent listing profile with simple and understandable description
- Good quality and meaningful pictures
- Good reviews
- Advise guests on activities in the region and provide information material
- Create side offers like bread service, products from the farm etc.
- Promote your listing and share the link on your own social media channels, or if available, on your own website.
- Apply to us for a blog post (host portrait). In addition to the blog post, this will result in social media posts.
You can change your email address in "My account" under "Contact details".
At the moment it is only possible to close a listing. You can do this in "My Camps" under the corresponding listing. There you will find three small dots. By clicking on them you will see the option to close the listing.
No, in principle the pictures created by Nomady or by a Nomady scout are only allowed on the website Nomady.ch. For any other use, please contact us and we'll have a closer look.
We have two different newsletters. One with specific topics for you as a host and one for our campers. You will receive the host newsletter automatically. It contains all important changes and news about our platform. It is our main tool to communicate with you. We also recommend that you subscribe to the camper newsletter. This way you will stay up to date there as well.
Follow us on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn.
Nomady has a high quality standard for the camps. That's why we will contact you personally as a host, ensuring that you are the person who belongs to the profile. Don't worry, we won't ask too many questions.
Verified means that a Nomady scout has been on site to verify the accuracy of your information and has photographed the listing. Our verification offer includes verification, photography and a high quality metal sign. With the increasing number of camps, a trustworthy offer is more and more important. Here you can find our offer for verification and photography.
