Become a Nomady host

Become a Nomady host and benefit from our easy-to-use platform. Rent out your spot to nature-loving campers.

Camping App has partnered with us and recommends that you, as a Camping App host, list your spot on Nomady.

Here are the benefits of the partnership

Easy management

Easy management

Thanks to the partnership between Camping App and Nomady, all Nomady spots are automatically visible on the app. Any updates to your listing on Nomady go live immediately and are synced with the app. Instead of traditional contact details, app users are redirected to nomady.camp and can book your spot directly. You no longer need to answer emails or calls from potential guests.

Reservations and bookings made simple

Reservations and bookings made simple

Your guests can book their spot directly without having to drop by or call first to check availability. You decide whether to accept bookings automatically or confirm them manually. You can also manage availability and block dates using a calendar. In addition, you can order a sign that allows travellers on the road to book directly via QR code.

Minimal administration

Minimal administration

Bookings and payments are handled entirely through the platform. That means you don't have to collect money in person or worry about billing. Instead, guests pay conveniently online. The amount is charged before their arrival, and you receive automatic payouts and statements once the guests have checked out. We also assist you with managing and billing visitor's tax, if applicable.

Greater reach and genuine reviews

Greater reach and genuine reviews

In addition to visibility on the Camping App, you also reach our community of over 100,000 nature lovers. Guests can review you, and you can review them in return. This means you benefit from feedback shared by other hosts, giving you a better idea of who is visiting. With an average rating of 4.8/5 across more than 12,000 reviews, this system has proven its value.

Personal support

We are happy to help! Contact us at hello@nomady.camp or by phone at +49 7531 9218530 (DE/EU) and +41 55 560 20 14 (CH) if you have any questions or would like to get to know us better.

Questions & Answers

Anyone! Whether you are an individual, run a farm or tourism business, represent an association or manage municipal land. As long as you take good care of your camp and guests, a single spot is all you need to get started.

A Nomady camp is a spot surrounded by nature, suitable for tents, campervans, motorhomes or caravans. Rustic cabins, tipis, yurts and unique nature accommodations are also welcome. What they all share is a close connection to nature and simplicity. Nomady stands for authenticity and peace and quiet — that is our kind of luxury.

None are strictly required. However, having a toilet nearby adds significant value and is frequently requested by campers. Guests appreciate it and are willing to pay more for such spots. Major investments are not necessary.

Listing your spot is completely free. Nomady only charges a service fee of currently 10–15% when you receive a booking. You can delete your listing and account details at any time. There are no binding contracts or notice periods.

Hosting allows you to build a worthwhile extra income. Earnings vary depending on the number of camps and their amenities. Our top hosts earn up to CHF/€ 10,000 a year from a single listing, and over CHF/€ 30,000 with multiple camps. Your earnings are transferred directly to your bank account a few days after each guest's stay.

We handle booking management and take care of the administrative work for you. We also market your listings across Europe through multiple channels. On top of that, you have a personal contact person whenever you need support. We value close relationships with our hosts and keep everything transparent and fair.

Bookings and credit card payments are processed securely through our platform. You receive the payout once the guests have completed their stay. You can block dates whenever you do not wish to host, and you are free to decline booking requests.

We do our utmost to ensure that both hosts and guests have a wonderful experience. The review system helps maintain transparency and trust — our current average rating is 4.8/5 across more than 12,000 reviews. We also rely on the Nomady Pact, an agreement we all share based on mutual respect for each other and for nature. It has worked remarkably well.

FAQ

Hosts share their most beautiful nature spots and accommodations with campers. We connect both sides and promote sustainable, local tourism that benefits everyone.

Our mission is to bring hosts and campers together as simply as possible. To achieve this, we continuously improve our platform, run marketing and media campaigns, build partnerships, and provide dedicated support whenever you have questions. The entire booking and payment process is handled by Nomady.

Nomady allows you as an individual or business to rent out your outdoor space. Associations, cooperatives, and municipalities are also warmly welcome.

At Nomady, we distinguish between two categories: “Camping” and “Accommodations”. In the “Camping” category, you will find idyllic spots in nature for tents, campervans, or motorhomes. In the “Accommodations” category, we offer cabins, glamping, and unique shelters such as alpine huts, tiny houses, converted trailers, or yurts. If you have a scenic outdoor spot or a cosy hut, you can create a profile for free and set up as many listings as you like.

Nomady stands for camping in nature, away from mass tourism. Your spot or accommodation should be in a beautiful, natural setting offering peace and relaxation. Think of great views, a secluded location, or proximity to water (a stream, river, or lake). Nearby outdoor activities like hiking, wildlife watching, cycling, fishing, or mushroom picking are a plus. Not every camp needs to tick every box — we are excited to offer a wide and diverse range of nature stays.

A typical Nomady spot includes a fire pit, an outdoor table and bench, and firewood if possible. Having a toilet and drinking water nearby or within walking distance is also very helpful.

However, the exact setup is entirely up to you as the host. The most important thing is that your listing clearly describes what amenities guests can expect.

We keep your effort to a minimum: you manage your bookings and calendar, serve as the contact person for your guests, and keep your camp well-maintained both on site and on our platform. Ideally, you check your bookings daily. How much personal interaction you have with your guests is up to you — over time, you will get a good feel for how much attention each guest appreciates.

As a host, you also become part of our community and agree to our Nomady Pact, which promotes respectful and mindful treatment of nature and fellow human beings.

We review every listing before it goes live. We review the descriptions and photos together with you. Maintaining high quality is essential to us, so we reserve the right to decline listings, ask for improvements, or remove listings that do not meet our standards. We are always happy to advise you.

Creating a Nomady listing is completely free — it doesn't cost you a thing! Nomady only earns when a booking is made. Depending on the booking total, a service fee of 10% to 15% applies. For bookings up to 100 francs, the fee is 15%. Above that, the rate decreases linearly to 10% for amounts of 300 francs or more.

Booking total / Service fee CHF 100.00 = 15% CHF 200.00 = 12.5% CHF 300.00 = 10%

The 10–15% service fee covers all costs, including credit card processing fees of 2–4%. If visitor's tax applies in your area, this is deducted from your revenue. You can find more details on visitor's tax below.

That depends on what your spot or accommodation already offers. Experience shows that a few simple initial investments — such as a fire pit, a picnic table, or a composting toilet — pay off quickly. They increase the appeal of your listing and what campers are willing to pay. We are happy to give you advice.

We also recommend putting up signs pointing the way to your camp and on site. This helps guests feel welcome and creates a great first impression. We offer high-quality metal signs to hosts at cost price.

Alongside many other benefits, hosting allows you to earn a worthwhile income. Earnings vary greatly depending on the listing. You can build a nice side income of €/CHF 2,000 per year, or earn over €/CHF 20,000 per year with multiple spots. Your earnings are paid out to your bank account after each completed stay.

You set the price yourself. You enter it directly in your listing and can adjust it at any time. You can set individual rates for different age groups, add extra services with separate pricing, and collect visitor's tax if required. You'll see clear examples when setting up your listing under the “Pricing” section.

Take a look at other hosts' listings to get a sense of typical prices. Set a starting price and observe how campers respond — demand will quickly show you whether your price is just right. You can adjust your rates for future bookings anytime. When reviewing your listing, we will also look at your pricing and offer recommendations.

Small investments in amenities and high-quality photos make your listing more attractive and allow you to charge slightly higher rates.

A great final tip: offer a very appealing price initially to secure your first positive reviews. As mentioned, you can update your pricing in just a few clicks whenever you like.

Every Nomady listing has a base price to help campers compare listings easily. The base price consists of the price per night per pitch plus the price for one adult.

Whether you have to pay tourist taxes and how much they are is regulated individually by each municipality. Not every municipality levies such taxes to promote tourism. They are mainly found in tourist areas.

Please check with your local municipality or tourist organisation regarding this. Tourist taxes are part of your income, so calculate them into your base price in advance. You are responsible for reporting them yourself.

Yes, provided you offer a listing in the "Accommodation" category. You have the option to set a one-time cleaning fee.

Yes, under "Amenities" you can choose from various billing options to charge for additional electricity costs.

Yes, under "Amenities" you can choose from various billing options for the firewood you provide.

We handle all payment transactions.

The camper enters their credit card details when booking the listing on Nomady. Payment is currently only possible by credit card. We charge the card once the booking is confirmed.

As a host, you provide us with your bank details once. Around 7 days after the guest's camping stay, the amount minus Nomady fees will be transferred to your account.

When a booking is made, Nomady charges a service fee to both the host and the camper. This helps ensure that we can survive as a company and continue connecting you as a host with campers. We mainly invest the fees in the following areas:

Community support: Your concerns are our concerns. We want to support you whenever needed. We offer the same service to campers, placing great emphasis on personal support. You can reach out to us at any time!

Marketing: We know how important it is for you as a host to receive enough bookings. With significant investments in guest marketing, we support you in reaching your goals. Among other things, we maintain our social media channels, create content for our blog, and book advertising space.

Product development: To ensure our platform runs smoothly, developers, designers, and product managers work behind the scenes. We continuously develop the website, introduce new features, and fix issues. The usability of the website is crucial to the success of our platform and your listing.

Partnerships: As always in life, we are stronger together. In this spirit, we use resources for targeted collaborations with diverse partners across the industry. This attracts both new travellers and new hosts.

Nomady works with the payment provider Stripe. For security reasons, Stripe must verify your identity for payment processing. Every host and camper must complete the identification process once. This data is stored securely.

Nomady currently does not offer its own insurance. All insurance is therefore the sole responsibility of the users. Nomady recommends that all users (hosts and campers) ensure comprehensive insurance coverage. We are working on a suitable Nomady insurance solution. As soon as we are ready, we will communicate this.

The legal situation in Europe regarding camping on private land varies from country to country, from region to region, and even from municipality to municipality.

As a host, you are always personally responsible for complying with the legal framework of your municipality. Camping on private land is still in its early stages. It may therefore happen that you do not find clear regulations in your country, region, or municipality.

In practice, our experience is often that municipalities are very positive towards Nomady. Especially when no construction work is required and you as a host take care of peace and order, in most cases nothing stands in the way of a Nomady listing. We are happy to assist you if you have any questions.

Yes, of course. You deserve breaks, too. Under "My listings", you can click on "Manage availability" for the respective listing and update the calendar. Clicking on a date turns it red, blocking it. Clicking the same date again turns it white, making it available for bookings again. Please do not forget to save your changes by clicking the button at the bottom of the page.

The camper books your listing on Nomady.camp or in the app. Depending on the booking option, they can book directly or only after your approval. Nomady distinguishes between "Booking request" and "Direct booking". We will tell you more about these booking options in a moment.

To keep your effort to a minimum and protect your privacy, campers cannot contact you before booking.

Only with a booking request do they get the opportunity to message you via our platform. They also gain access to further private information upon booking confirmation. This includes the exact location of the camp, your phone number, and instructions on directions, key handover, or arrival time.

"Booking request" means that the camper first sends you a booking request during the booking process. As a host, you can then decide whether you want to accept or decline the booking. It is your right to decline booking requests. Please let the camper know why you declined their request.

If you choose booking requests, you should make sure that very little time passes between the request and your response (acceptance or rejection). Naturally, the camper wants to know as soon as possible whether they can camp with you. You have 48 hours to respond to the request.

With "Direct booking", a camper can instantly book your listing if the requested date is free in the calendar. Manual confirmation from you is neither necessary nor possible. The booking is final. A cancellation is only possible in the form of a formal cancellation.

The "Direct booking" option is very popular with campers because it allows them to book their adventure spontaneously. For you as a host, however, this means that guests can also arrive at very short notice. Your camp should therefore be ready.

The better and more complete your listing description is, the fewer questions you will receive as a host. You should collect recurring questions about your offer and address them in the listing description or in the private information for the camper, which is shared only after a successful booking.

As soon as a booking request or direct booking has been made, you can communicate with the camper within the corresponding booking. You will find the list of bookings under the "Bookings" menu item. In the booking details, campers can also find your mobile number. We recommend communicating with the camper via our platform.

Currently, all notifications are automatically sent to your email address. We will soon integrate a feature that allows you to manage notification settings more precisely. Thank you for your patience.

In the menu under "Bookings", you will find all upcoming and past bookings. A conversation thread is opened for each booking. With the available filter functions, you can sort bookings by date and status, ensuring a better overview.

A calendar overview is unfortunately not available yet. We are constantly expanding and improving the features for managing bookings.

In your listing profile, under "Rules", you determine yourself how your guests' arrival should proceed. You can choose between the two options "With greeting" or "Self check-in":

With "With greeting", the camp is handed over in person by the host. For this option, you should agree on an arrival time with your campers after booking. You can either state your preferred arrival time directly in the private information for the camper under "Location|Contact" or ask the camper about their preferences.

With "Self check-in", a personal greeting is not strictly necessary. You allow your guest to drive directly to the camp. What is important with this option is that the guest knows exactly where to camp and where to find everything else, thanks to your booking details and on-site signage.

There are six cancellation options

Super Flex: Campers have the option to cancel up to the check-in time on the arrival date and receive a full refund of the booking amount minus the service fee. The check-in time on the arrival date is decisive for calculating the deadline.

Flex: Campers have the option to cancel up to 24 hours before arrival and receive a full refund of the booking amount minus the service fee. The check-in time on the arrival date (minus 24 hours) is decisive for calculating the deadline.

Easy: Campers have the option to cancel up to 3 days before arrival and receive a full refund of the booking amount minus the service fee. The check-in time on the arrival date (minus three calendar days) is decisive for calculating the deadline.

Moderate: Campers have the option to cancel up to 10 days before arrival and receive a full refund of the booking amount minus the service fee. The check-in time on the arrival date (minus ten calendar days) is decisive for calculating the deadline.

Strict: Campers have the option to cancel up to 30 days before arrival and receive a full refund of the booking amount minus the service fee. The check-in time on the arrival date (minus thirty calendar days) is decisive for calculating the deadline.

None: Campers do not have the option to cancel. The full booking amount including the service fee will be charged, even if the camp is not used during the booked period. A refund is excluded.

In this case, you will receive a message in the "Bookings" section. The date will automatically become available again so that other campers can book. Your chosen cancellation policy determines under which conditions the camper can cancel.

This feature is currently not available yet. In such a case, please contact our customer support.

You can simply block the dates in the calendar on which your listing cannot be booked. We do not recommend closing the listing (by clicking on the three dots for the respective listing under "My listings"). Doing so would also prevent bookings for the upcoming spring and summer.

On Nomady, both campers and hosts can leave reviews. Good reviews help you market your listing better. Likewise, you can use reviews about campers to get an idea of your potential guest. Your review helps both campers and future hosts.

Leaving a review is voluntary and does not happen automatically.

The process works as follows: After the stay, both parties are asked to write a review. In the first week after the stay, you can only see the other person's review if you also write one. After one week, mutual as well as one-sided reviews become public.

The review function is very helpful in providing a transparent picture of the camper, host, and camp. We rely on respectful and truthful interactions in accordance with our Nomady Pact.

For the sake of transparency, neither campers nor hosts can edit or delete their reviews. However, if a review is false or offensive, please contact us.

We are sorry that you had a bad experience. To keep reviews truthful and transparent, both positive and negative feedback are justified. Please describe your experience constructively, factually, truthfully, and in a respectful tone. Please reach out to the camper directly to explain what you were not happy with. Please contact us if a public review is not appropriate.

In the header area or the menu on our website, you will find «+Become a host» in the top right corner. You'll be guided step-by-step through creating your listing. This takes about 30 minutes. Don't worry, it's very simple and self-explanatory. Furthermore, your listing doesn't go online right away; we review it first. At this point, only you and our team can see the listing, so you can test and fine-tune everything. Your data is saved on each page (as long as you click «save» at the bottom of the page). This means you can spread creating your listing over several days.

Creating a listing is completely free. You can also delete your listing and contact details at any time. We do not have fixed contract terms or notice periods.

Need assistance setting up your listing? We're happy to help.

Yes, you can make changes at any time under «My listings» by clicking «Edit listing». We actually encourage you to keep your listing up to date at all times. The quality and accuracy of listings is very important to us.

That's entirely up to you. We recommend starting with one or two listings and growing gradually. You can offer both «Camping» and «Accommodations».

If your nature spot offers enough space for multiple guest groups, you can enter the number of pitches accordingly in your listing. Your spot can then be booked multiple times. However, the pitches must be virtually identical and share the same amenities. Otherwise, we ask you to create two separate listings with different names. Please also note that the maximum number of people, which you can also define, applies to a single pitch. Therefore, this number (max. number of guests) is always multiplied by the number of pitches.

Important: Hosting multiple parties may reduce the exclusivity of the spot. You should mention this transparently in your listing description.

With the name of your listing, you want to stand out from other offers. It should be unique, appealing, concise, and memorable. For instance, include the name of the local area, river, or mountain. Is there something special you can see or experience from there? What was the place called by your ancestors? Be creative! And remember: keep it short and sweet!

The description is the heart of your listing. It should give guests a clear idea of what to expect.

What makes your spot special? What does the surrounding area look like? What views can you enjoy from the camp?

How far is it to local amenities? Please do not include email addresses, phone numbers, or website links in the description.

You can go into further detail under «Amenities». So make sure the description primarily sparks excitement and wanderlust.

With an increasing number of listings on the platform, first impressions matter more than ever. Good photos help showcase and market your camp effectively.

Pay attention to good lighting and use a quality camera. A smartphone with a good camera also works great. Give campers a clear overview. Show clearly where a tent, van, or camper can be set up, and answer questions about the surroundings, landscape, and amenities with your pictures. Photograph the spot from different angles.

Take wide-angle photos from a distance and capture the immediate surroundings. Photograph the fire pit, table and benches, and toilet. Start your gallery with an expressive, attractive cover photo.

Tip: Ask your first guests if you can take a few photos of a «real» camping setup.

Here you will find a checklist and extra tips for the perfect camp pictures: Picture-perfect camping (PDF)

Tip: Image captions help guests see the camp through your eyes and get a complete overview.

Our campers love making their own campfire—something that is often not allowed at standard campsites. Unfortunately, entire regions frequently have to issue fire bans during dry spells. In such cases, please inform your guests accordingly. As responsible campers, they will be very understanding.

The choice is yours. If you're unsure, we recommend including firewood in the rental price to start with. Once you've hosted your first guests, you'll get a clear picture of actual wood consumption.

Many campers are self-sufficient. However, having the option to use electricity—whether for small devices or the van—is still very popular. You can decide what you want to offer and at what price.

No, drinking water or running water is not mandatory, but always warmly welcomed. A water source could be a fountain, a tap on the barn, or a stream with potable water.

Please describe in your listing where the nearest fountain is or where fresh water can otherwise be sourced if there is no direct water access. In such cases, some hosts provide a small water canister to borrow.

Most campers will need to wash their dishes at some point during their stay. It's obviously very convenient if there is a surface to place items on or a tub available by the water source.

As a host, you decide whether campers can dispose of rubbish on site or whether they should take it with them and dispose of it themselves.

In our Nomady Pact, we clearly state that campers must leave your spot just as they found it.

Our experience shows that providing a rubbish bag that can be handed in at checkout is greatly appreciated.

A toilet near the camp adds tremendous value to the spot and is frequently requested by campers. They appreciate it and are willing to pay more for such spots.

The toilet can be located at the farm/main house. A walking distance of around 200 metres is completely fine. Experience shows that for an idyllic spot, guests are happy to take a short walk to the toilet.

If no toilet is available yet and the distance is too far, we recommend building or purchasing a composting toilet. These can be very cost-effective solutions. We'd be happy to advise you.

A chance to freshen up for the next adventure is a definite bonus and a good reason for many campers to pay a bit extra. Whether it's an outdoor shower or access to a regular bathroom, feel free to list what you'd like to offer and include it in your pricing.

We recommend putting up signs directing guests to the camp and marking the spot on site. This makes your guests feel welcome and creates a great first impression.

We offer high-quality metal signs for our hosts, which you can purchase from us at cost price.

In this case, simply enter the nearest address. The directions you can provide under "Location | Private" will then be all the more important. The map feature, where you can drop pins, also helps when no exact address exists. Important: Your guest will only receive this information after a confirmed booking.

All Nomady users—hosts and campers alike—commit to the Nomady Pact. This pact represents a shared mindset of respect for people and nature. It does not regulate specific details. You can set your own house rules under «Rules». If certain rules are particularly important to you, you can also send them to campers before they book, or mention them in the booking details at the latest.

When creating your listing, you can fill in the following information under «Location | Private»:

  • The exact address of the camp
  • Your phone number
  • Additional information such as directions, arrival info, handover, extra phone numbers, etc.
  • A map of the camp showing firewood, toilet, water point, etc.

Campers will only receive this information after their booking is confirmed.

There is no single formula, but these points will certainly help:

  • Design and maintain your listing with care
  • Keep your listing and availability calendar up to date
  • Respond quickly and warmly to booking requests or messages
  • Create a consistent listing profile with a clear, easy-to-understand description
  • Use high-quality, expressive photos
  • Collect plenty of up-to-date reviews
  • Advise guests on local activities and provide informative brochures
  • Offer extra services such as fresh bread delivery, farm shop produce, etc.
  • Promote your listing and share your Nomady link on your social media channels or personal website, if you have one.
  • Apply for a blog feature (host portrait) with us. Along with the story, this creates dedicated social media posts.

You can change your email address under «My Account» in «Contact details».

Currently, you can only close a listing. You can do this under «Your listings» on the relevant spot. There you will see three dots. Clicking on them gives you the option to close the listing.

No. Photos taken by Nomady or a Nomady Scout are generally only permitted for use on the Nomady website. For any other use, please contact us so we can discuss it together.

We publish two different newsletters: one with dedicated topics for you as a host, and one for our campers. You will automatically receive the host newsletter. It contains all key updates and new features on our platform and serves as our primary communication channel with you. We also recommend subscribing to the camper newsletter so you stay in the loop there too.

Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn.

Nomady maintains high quality standards for all camps. That's why we contact you personally as a host to verify that you are the person linked to the profile. Don't worry, we won't interrogate you with endless questions.

Verified means that a Nomady Scout visited your spot in person to confirm your details and photograph the camp. Our verification package includes verification, photography, and a high-quality metal sign. With the growing number of camps, a verified, trustworthy listing is more important than ever. Discover our verification and photography package here.
