Il Granello - Cucina & Relax in Natura

Italy-40065 Pianoro
Out of time, in a pre-industrial Kairos, surrounded by lovingly cultivated organic fields and nearby woods, we look forward to offering you a relaxing stay in harmony with nature. A true break from time at the edge of the forest, where from May to the end of June you can also savor the sweet fruits of blackthorn and wild cherry trees. A picnic basket for lunch or breakfast, or an aperitif on our suspended 'relax in the foliage' net, is available upon request. Around the fields, you can take short or long walks along the trails, hike up to Monte Rosso, explore the "caves", unwind on the "pulpit in the woods", or disconnect completely by climbing up to the scenic viewpoint high above the fields—a true natural sanctuary in the Mediterranean macchia, featuring south-facing limestone steps overlooking the slopes of the Pliocene foothills, right on the historic Gothic Line of World War II, now an oasis of peace and serenity.

Although we are quite close to the city, the surrounding nature is the greatest surprise and main attraction. In the Contrafforte Pliocenico Nature Reserve, you can discover a rich variety of flora and fauna in all seasons. The Contrafforte ridge stretches from east to west: the southern side is characterized by unexpected Mediterranean vegetation, while the northern side takes on an alpine character. All around the farm, numerous trails of various lengths invite you to take relaxing walks and soak in the scenery. You'll find the woodland trail around the fields with a visit to the cave, the scenic cliff viewpoint, the "pulpit" in the woods, the summit of Monte Rosso, the Sanctuary of Monte delle Formiche, and the various well-marked routes of the "Trail of Friends" (Sentiero degli Amici). There are also well-marked CAI hiking trails that will take you several hours to explore. We also offer e-bike rentals so you can easily explore many of these paths. You can also try natural horsemanship at the Red Rose Ranch (10 minutes away), go caving in the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi (25 minutes), or spend a wonderful day at Lake Bilancino or the fairy-tale Rocchetta Mattei castle (both one hour away). Plus, you can gaze at the night sky and learn about the stars at the Astronomical Station and Planetarium in Loiano (20 minutes). To dive into local history, visit the National Etruscan Museum and the archaeological excavations of Kainua in Marzabotto (40 minutes) or the Monte Sole Historical Park (55 minutes). If you have time, a day trip to Florence (an hour and a half) is an absolute must. For food and wine lovers, Bologna (a 40-minute drive) has so much to offer: join exciting food tours, explore bustling markets, and discover traditional shops and restaurants serving delicious local delicacies. Between tastings, stroll through the picturesque alleys of the historic center, marvel at the Gothic Basilica of San Petronio, climb the iconic Torre degli Asinelli, and visit the Archaeological Museum to immerse yourself in the city's rich past. A beautiful spot, but very challenging for vehicles larger than a camper van. The steep driveway is sandy and narrow, and the access road to the property is very tight. If you encounter oncoming traffic, someone has to reverse. The owners are very nice and everything is clean.
This campsite was amazing! Such a peaceful spot tucked away in the hills where all you can hear is birdsong. Elisa was a welcoming and friendly host and cooked me some wonderful food even though it was Easter Sunday.
A wonderful place to relax and unwind, fantastic hosts, a true oasis of well-being, thanks for everything.
An unforgettable stay with warm hosts! Our stay at Il Granello was simply wonderful! The hosts, Elisa and Romano, delighted us with their warmth, and the breathtaking view from the accommodation is unforgettable. A special highlight was Renato, the family's son, who effortlessly pulled us out of the mud with his tractor. This immediate help shows just how down-to-earth and helpful this family is. Dream location, fantastic view, and exceptionally lovely hosts – we would love to come back!
We had a wonderful stay at this agricamping! What made it truly special and unique was the incredible hospitality of the family. The campsite is beautifully cared for, with many cozy and inviting spots where you can relax and unwind. We were able to spontaneously join a delicious dinner, complete with homemade bread and pasta – absolutely fantastic! The next morning, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast with fresh fruit and great coffee. We will definitely be coming back and can only highly recommend a visit!
Space, view, visits from cats 😊 Nice hospitality. Dog barking, not so much 😏 Highly recommended nonetheless.
Perfect spot, great flexibility, huge hospitality and beautiful nature all around. Until next time 🙏🏼
