Our large natural pond invites you to explore (under parental supervision), and the nearby little stream is the perfect spot for discovering nature and cooling off. Right next door is a horse stable – very fitting for Biel-Benken, which is known for having more horses than people :-). Looking for a day trip? The wonderful Basel Zoo is easily and conveniently accessible from here by public transport. Just below the Restaurant Zihlmann, there is also a children's playground that guests are welcome to use.

Pitch 1:
Directly borders a natural garden, a cozy shaded nook by the little stream, and a large fire pit with sun-protected seating.
The pitch is on an almost level marl surface, measuring approx. 6.50 x 2.30 m. Instead of traffic noise, pure tranquility awaits you here—in summer, accompanied at most by a more or less audible frog chorus, depending on the amphibians' mood.
If you are keen nature observers, you will be able to discover even more wildlife near the pond and along the stream.

The Zihlmann farm shop, located about 150 m away on the main road, offers a wide variety of fresh local goods. It is definitely worth a visit! You will also find more farm shops in the Benken part of the village.

Nearby Alsace is right on your doorstep as well: the French villages of Leymen and Neuwiller (approx. 4 km) can be easily reached by bike in no time and are perfect for a lovely excursion with great dining options.

About 150 m north along the main road, you'll find the well-known rustic restaurant Bauern Restaurant Zihlmann and right next to it the charming café Walti's Schüre. Further down, Café zum Brunnen invites you to stop by. The Bauernwirtschaft Heyer tavern is also very popular.

Perched at an altitude of 702 m, Restaurant Bergmatten can be reached by bike—with a few deep breaths along the way!—in a leisurely 57 minutes, or even faster if you're feeling sporty... No record times have been set yet! :-)

Public Transport: Just about 150 meters away to the north on the main street is the "Biel-Benken Dorf" bus stop. From here, bus line 60 takes you via Bottmingen directly to Muttenz (with a connection to the No. 10 tram from Oberwil to Basel).
Public Transport 2: If you want to head towards Dornach train station, the "im Wyler" stop to the south on Therwilerstrasse is approx. 400 meters away. Bus line 62 directly connects Biel-Benken with Therwil, Reinach, and the Dornach SBB train station.
Close to the Border & Active: The French village of Leymen in Alsace is only about 4 km away and can be reached by bike in no time—perfect for a leisurely trip to explore local restaurants and shopping. If you're looking for something more active: bike up to the historic Landskron Castle in about 30 minutes (6.3 km away).
Regional Cultural Highlights: In Dornach, the world-famous Goetheanum awaits you—a monumental concrete building that serves as the center of the Anthroposophical Society, a school of spiritual science, and an impressive festival venue that fascinates visitors from all over the world.

In addition, the nearby cultural metropolis of Basel entices with more than 15 world-class museums. Absolute must-sees include the Kunstmuseum Basel, the Fondation Beyeler in Riehen, the Museum Tinguely, the Toy Worlds Museum, or the unique Hoosesaggmuseum.
