Camping in Nidwalden

Altzellerberg - Einfach mit Aussicht

Switzerland-6388 Grafenort
A simple, very quiet pitch with stunning views of the Engelberg Valley. It’s the perfect base for unforgettable experiences—whether as a couple or with the whole family—exploring on foot, by bike/e-bike, or paragliding in Engelberg-Titlis, Brunni, Bannalp, Wirzweli, Maria-Rickenbach, Stanserhorn, or on Lake Lucerne. Access is from Grafenort (Stans-Süd towards Engelberg) via the St. Joder Chapel on the Altzellerberg. Your pitch is located on reinforced pastureland right next to the alpine stable. You’ll mostly have the surroundings to yourself, or share them with your neighbors: the cows and chickens. Here, you can admire the mountain panorama and set off on hikes, mountain climbs, or bike tours. Directly from the camp, you can stroll to Wellenberg and Eggiligrat, hike to the Walenpfad, Brunni, and Bannalp, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the St. Joder Chapel, or conquer the local paragliding paradise. Nights here are rarely so clear and the surroundings so peaceful. Only the sound of cowbells, rustling leaves, chirping crickets, or the call of a night owl, deer, or fox might disturb your sleep. If you're interested, we’re happy to give you a glimpse into daily life on the alp and show you how our most reliable employee—an automatic milking robot—works. Upon request, we offer traditional 'Z'Abigplättli' (evening platters) or alpine breakfasts. You can choose to enjoy your meal right by your camper, in the cozy 'Ghirmi-Hittli' shelter, or outside at the large table. Fresh water is available right next to the pitch, and hot water can be collected at any time from the stable or the alpine hut. Showers and toilets are also located at the hut, and there is a handmade compost toilet near the Ghirmi-Hittli. Inside the Ghirmi-Hittli, you’ll find a fridge stocked with refreshing drinks, ingredients for spontaneous BBQ evenings, or snacks. There is also a coffee machine with excellent organic coffee and homemade organic products from our farm. Dogs are NOT allowed on the pitch.

Let yourself be surprised! - Right at the camp, you have access to cold water and an electricity connection (220V) >> please bring your own extension cable. - Hot water is available at the stable. - You can use the showers at the alpine hut (approx. 350 m from the camp). You are also welcome to use the toilet there. - At your campsite, you'll find a fire pit and a grill for cozy evenings by the fire. - Local firewood and mountain charcoal can be purchased on-site. Lounge Area At the Ghirmi-Hittli, you will also find a picnic table and a cozy shelter with ample seating, whether you prefer to stay dry or soak up the sun. Access All paths consist of paved or concrete small roads. You will be living door-to-door—or rather, head-to-head—with the farm animals. Our cows enjoy their daily pasture; your paths will likely cross as they head out to graze. The chickens are your closest neighbors, and you can watch them pecking and scratching about. The sense of peace that spreads over you while watching these content animals is truly indescribable. Light Since there are no village or city lights to brighten the night sky, you can enjoy the starry canopy in all its celestial glory.

Rules
1
Please use the compost toilet at the Ghirmi-Hittli or the toilet at the alpine hut
2
Please do NOT feed the cows, cattle, Alpine pigs & chickens.
3
Out of respect for the animals, please never shout, make noise, or wave your arms around. The animals are not used to this and will become nervous.
4
Less is more: we appreciate it when you, as a nature-loving camper, produce only a little waste and when you take your brought-along rubbish back with you and dispose of it properly at the nearby recycling points. For your stay, we provide you with an official 17-litre fee-based waste bag. You can dispose of this with us after your stay.
5
Enjoy the peace and the sounds of nature. Loud music from speakers is not welcome.
6
The road/access to the barn must remain clear AT ALL TIMES. While you're enjoying your holiday, we're hard at work for 7 days. Tractors, cows heading out to pasture, milk trucks, and other equipment must be able to get through at any time.
7
Please respect that the animals should not be disturbed during milking and their meals, and do not wish to be petted.
8
We give you an insight into our farm and family life. However, please respect that we also enjoy our quiet times and privacy.
9
If you would like your pitch exclusively for yourself, please book as many pitches as vehicles/tents/vans/campers etc. are arriving. The same conditions apply as for a parking space: 1 vehicle/tent = 1 pitch.
10
Children are accompanied to the compost toilet so that the next guest also finds a clean toilet!
11
Parents supervise their children during their stay. As other guests also wish to enjoy the space, please avoid excessive noise and respect the neighbours' space.
12
Please do not move furniture (chairs, grill trays, etc.) from one stable spot to another.
13
Unless otherwise communicated, please do not enter the meadows and pastures next to the pitch. These areas are food for our animals, and we also don't like it when someone tramples around in our food.
Notes
1
Direct access to the parking space is guaranteed
2
A high-end composting toilet is located approx. 25 m away, while a standard flush toilet is 300 m from the pitch.
3
Our pitch is NOT a cheap alternative to a campsite or hotel for those just passing through.
4
Exclusively for nature lovers and those who appreciate and respect peace, quiet, and the natural landscape.

Carla and Peter are very charming, young and dynamic. Breakfast is brilliant! Thanks again 😎 Nice, quiet spots with their own fire pit.
A very nice place to relax in the middle of an organic farm surrounded by nature and animals. Carla and Peter are great hosts and nothing is missing. There are lots of delicious things to discover in the farm shop. Definitely a highlight to sit by the campfire under the stars.
Nice spot on the meadow. Cows nearby, great mountains and views. Toilet, food, and water all in one place. Would gladly come again.
