Our charming Weidhüsli is nestled at the very end of the Engstligtal valley, in the Gilbach hamlet of Adelboden, at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. Locals affectionately (and humorously) refer to Gilbach as “The Valley of Howling Winds,” a nickname that truly comes to life when the autumn Föhn wind powerfully sweeps through the fir trees. The Gilbachtäli is a small, idyllic valley, slightly set apart from Adelboden, offering breathtaking views of the Fitzer, the Gilbach residents' beloved local mountain.

A Weidhaus is similar to an Alpine hut, but historically served as an intermediate station before livestock ascended to the higher Alpine pastures. For a long time, cattle would still occupy the stable in spring and autumn. For the past few years, however, this space has been home to shaggy goats during the summer months.

This charming old alpine hut features a traditional wood-fired stove for cooking, and a cozy Swedish-style fireplace in the living room to keep you wonderfully warm.

Restaurant Des Alpes is just a 5-minute walk from the car park. You'll find various shops in the village, a pleasant 40-minute stroll away, a 15-minute bike ride, or a quick 5-minute trip by bus or car.

Depending on who's out and about, you might spot an ermine, fox, field hare (yes, foxes and hares truly bid each other goodnight here!), a badger, or, depending on the season and with a bit of luck, even a bearded vulture. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Fitzer mountain.

Wiidhüsi bim Ahore

Unser Weidhüsli liegt zuhinterst im Engstligtal in der Bäuert Gilbach in Adelboden auf 1500 m.ü.M. Das Gilbach wird von den Einheimischen scherzhaft auch «Das Tal der heulenden Winde» genannt und macht seinem Spitznamen alle Ehre, wenn der Föhn im Herbst so richtig durch die Tannen bläst. Das Gilbachtäli ist klein, etwas ausserhalb von Adelboden gelegen und bietet eine wunderbare Aussicht auf den Fitzer, dem Hausberg der Gilbacher.

Ein Weidhaus ist wie eine Alphütte, wurde jedoch als "Mittelstation" benutzt, bevor man mit dem Veh auf die Alp ging. Lange waren im Frühling und Herbst noch Rinder im Stall. Seit einigen Jahren wird dieser im Sommer von den Zottelgeissen bewohnt.

WINTER: Es stehen Schneeschuhe und Stöcke zur Verfügung. Nach Möglichkeit wird "vorgespurt". Bei Neuschnee ist dies allenfalls nicht immer sofort möglich.
