At the playground: A cozy picnic table – ideal for family breaks and outdoor snacks. At Laubenbachmühle station: A covered seating area for a sheltered rest in wind and weather. The toilets are located directly on the premises of the Mariazellerbahn in Laubenbachmühle (on the right by the entrance). The toilets are open at the following times: • Monday to Friday: 04:00 – 00:00 • Saturday and Sunday: 04:00 – 01:30

The playground is located right in the operations center of the Mariazellerbahn. At the Ötscher model, a large landscape model in the middle of the station hall, you can discover the area around the Ötscher in miniature. The large glass fronts provide insights into the depot and workshop. For the kids, there's fun at the playground: slackline, slide, swing, carousel, and a large meadow guarantee fun and frolic away from road traffic. A small stream near the playground invites you to splash around on hot days. The Bistro Laubenbachmühle is open every day. Here guests can enjoy breakfast variations, regional drinks, lunch dishes, as well as coffee and pastries. The bistro has a small play corner. Children up to the age of six ride the Mariazellerbahn for free.

Start your day with a regional breakfast, enjoy a freshly prepared lunch, or treat yourself in the afternoon to fresh coffee and homemade cakes. For later in the day, savory snacks are also available. The Bistro Laubenbachmühle is open depending on the season at the following times (as of October 2026): • Summer time (May 1 to October 31): Daily from 08:00 to 17:00 • Winter time (November 1 to April 30): Daily from 08:00 to 15:00 Special opening hours: • December 24: Open until 12:00 • December 25, December 26, December 31, and January 1: Closed

The Laubenbachmühle operations center in Frankenfels is an ideal starting point for a variety of hikes in the Pielach Valley and the surrounding foothills of the Alps. Popular hikes from Laubenbachmühle - Hike on the Viaduct Trail: Easy, ideal for a leisurely half-day excursion. A gentle path leads you with beautiful views of the valley head and the mountains of the Mostviertel to Winterbach. - Laubenbachmühle via Geißreit to Frankenfels: Moderate, good basic fitness required. From the station via Geißreit to the saddle, continue into the Boding valley basin (Gasthof Lichtensteg) and to the Nixhöhle cave and through the Taubenbachklamm gorge to Frankenfels to the station. The return journey is possible with the Mariazellerbahn. - Laubenbachmühle – Eibeck-Alm – Frankenfels: Difficult, approx. 5:30 hours, just under 890 meters of elevation gain over around 19.3 km. A challenging circular tour over the Eibeck alpine hut with magnificent views and a more alpine character.
