Natural Idyl Beneath Castle Ruins – A Peaceful Green Escape

Nestled between the forest and the river, below an ancient castle ruin on the grounds of a former manor farm, lies our nature-inspired pitch – quiet, green, and with plenty of space to arrive and unwind.

You’ll be parked on a spacious meadow (grass surface) with sweeping views of the countryside and direct access to the forest. This spot is ideal for campers consciously seeking peace and a simple, authentic getaway.

A special highlight is our two resident donkeys 🫏, who might just greet you in the morning – an experience that many guests remember long after they leave. In the evening, the calls of the owls create a truly magical atmosphere.

The surrounding area is perfect for long walks and relaxing hours in nature. Ideal for couples, solo travelers, and those looking for tranquility.

• Location: Close to nature at the Waldecker Hof (now a senior residence); this is not a traditional campsite

• Quiet, but not completely isolated
• A road is audible nearby, though it is significantly quieter at night

If you are looking for a unique, peaceful spot in the heart of nature, you’ve come to the right place.

Dogs are more than welcome here, with plenty of nature and space to roam right around the site. Please note: dogs are not permitted inside the buildings (common rooms/restrooms), as our own farm dog lives on the premises. We also kindly ask that you keep your dogs under control while on the property and remain mindful of other animals and the surroundings.

Amenities & Extras

• Water can be sourced directly from the farm or from the Nagold River, which flows through the property (not tested for drinking water).

• Common room available in the adjacent historic farmstead (now Waldecker Hof / Senior Residence):
– Dining hall
– Books to borrow or take away
– Opening hours: 10 am – 9 pm

• On-site vending machines:
– Hot drinks
– Cold drinks
– Sweets
– Ice cream and eggs (subject to availability)

• BBQ facilities:
– Grill grate available upon request
– Open fires permitted depending on the season (please be mindful of fire hazards)
– Please bring your own firewood or collect it in the surrounding area (do not use our prepared wood stocks)

• Toilets are located in the adjacent front building (Waldecker Hof). Access is not through the main gate (please use the black door).

You will find shops, bakeries, cafés, and restaurants in the nearby towns of Calw and Wildberg (both about a 5-minute drive away).

On-site, we also offer fresh eggs from our own farm—subject to availability.

Additionally, a snack machine and a coffee machine (coin-operated) are available for your convenience.

Winter hiking trails start right from the site, leading you through scenic forests and up to the Waldeck castle ruins. Within a short drive, you can also enjoy the thermal baths in Bad Teinach or visit the Polarion ice rink.

Even in winter, this pitch remains nestled between the forest and the river, below the old castle ruins on the grounds of the former Maierhof – quiet, close to nature, and with plenty of space to switch off. 

You will be staying on a spacious meadow (grass surface) with direct access to the forest. During the colder months, the surroundings reveal their particularly peaceful and pristine side – ideal for those seeking a conscious getaway. Please note that the grassy ground can become softer and muddy in places when wet.

Even in winter, our two donkeys 🫏 might stop by in the morning, creating a truly special atmosphere. The surrounding paths are perfect for relaxing winter strolls and short hikes starting right from the site. The Waldeck castle ruins remain easily accessible in this season and offer beautiful views.

The Nagold river flows directly alongside the property, giving the site its unique character even in winter.

To warm up, the thermal baths in Bad Teinach are just 5 minutes away. Additionally, an ice rink (Polarion) is only a short drive from here.

Please note: A road is audible nearby, though it becomes significantly quieter at night.
